Sunday 28th August saw the 3rd Football Fundraiser for The Smile of Arran.
Kim & Garry Heather along with their loyal helpers started the day in the early hours in order to give the local communities & supporter’s of The Smile of Arran another fabulous day.
Stalls, bouncy castles, bar’s & food were all enjoyed by the many who came along to support the event.
Hedingham under 16’s & their rivals Halstead under 16’s wearing their Smile of Arran tops, were piped on to the pitch by a lone piper. The boys were then greeted by Arran’s mum Alison, his sister Chloe & family friend Nina. The teams released their Green & White balloons before a standing ovation applauded for 1 minute in Arran’s memory.
The game got underway & the boys soon delivered another nail biting game. Halstead took the lead early on & won the cup this year. However they are ALL winners in our eyes……
The sun was shining as the second game got underway. The Veteran’s of Garry Heather’s first team played against the parent’s & some players of Arran’s team. But as in previous years soon into the game the Heavens opened & the rain fell. It didn’t dampen the players spirits & both teams played really well.
The Smile of Arran stall raised over £500 . ‘ Our loyal supporters continue to overwhelm us with their donations’ reported Arran’s mum Alison & his sister Chloe. ‘Thankyou just doesn’t seem enough!’.
An over all total has still to be finalised.
